Why Should You Care?

This is the inaugural post of the Common Cents and Moderation (CCM) blog. Why should you care?
Essentially, the idea here is to use this forum as an opportunity to discuss ways to improve everyday life by conserving time, energy and resources through the use of simplified processes.
The use of the term common cents goes beyond a play on words. It means using each individual's natural strengths and abilities to moderate one's life in a way it creates better life capital, revenue, or currency. Regardless of phrasing, it means making your life count for what you value each day.
Now that may sound convoluted or philosophical, but I assure you, this blog is meant to give each person an opportunity to share simple ways to save and conserve money, time, energy, effort, resources, life, or anything you can think of that is worth saving.
When we avoid waste, we can redistribute our energies and resources to be of more value to ourselves, others and the world.
If this sounds interesting to you and you would like to participate, welcome.
If not, I encourage you to close the page, but consider returning another time. Content will vary tremendously here in an effort to keep material fresh and relevant to those who care to participate.
So, here's my first post. Please let me know what you think.

One of my favorite things to do is save cans. I live in Northwest Alabama. There is no local recycling program for bottles (which I think is pitiful). Tin and aluminum cans don't net much cash, but it is money I wouldn't have otherwise, so why not take them somewhere I get money I would not have had otherwise. Also, and more importantly to me, it's my minor contribution to reuse of something that would otherwise be wasted. Rather than going to a landfill and further trashing the Earth, it's a way of doing a minimal thing that when considered on a greater scale could have a much greater impact.
What do you think? Does it matter? Do you have something similar that you do that seems small, but when viewed comprehensively, could create a larger impact?
I look forward to hearing what you have to say.
 All the best.
 Peace, love and respect, always.
